We used Michael Hodorowski for our patio remodel. In the past decade, Michael has organized and completed two major renovations of our Denver home. He was in charge of our projects, and I communicated with him daily. My husband and I are completely happy with the results of these two complicated renovations. We have much praise for Michael’s work.

Built in 1892, our house was a challenge to remodel. Our first major project was to build out the attic into a bedroom/bath/sitting area. The second project, which we started five years later, was to reconfigure and update the main floor. In both cases, the primary challenges were structural:

–the 19th-century building materials were irregular and various
–the floor joists were severed or missing
–none of the angles were square; in fact, the first floor was sloped by several inches
–the roof wasn’t attached to the house
–there was fire damage, water damage, and poorly executed repairs
–there was 80 years of electrical wiring and century-old pipes

Michael and his crew stripped the house down to the essential structure, shored it up and secured it, and then re-built each space according to 21rst-century code. With every unexpected discovery, Michael helped us to make sound adjustments to our original designs; it wasn’t always possible to organize the spaces as we had planned.

The third floor required extensive infrastructure not only to secure the roof, but to ensure that the space was well supported and well insulated. Michael and his crew built a staircase connecting the second and third floor, and also a full bath, five windows, and three skylights.

The first-floor renovation required a completely new kitchen, a new 1/2 bath, built-in cabinetry, three windows, two sliding-glass doors, a deck, and a small extension off a back room. More important, it required the installation of a support beam to hold up the second floor and a new roof. The floors were warped farmhouse lumber and had to be replaced after much work on the substructure.

Throughout both lengthy projects, Micheal was helpful, reliable, knowledgeable, and patient. We were very pleased with his professional advice and capable skills and remain satisfied with both renovations. There have been no surprises since.

I have known Michael Hodorowski professionally as a foremen carpenter since July of 2002 to current date. I have worked side by side with Michael on countless high end custom residential remodels including kitchen and bathroom remodels as well as new builds. I have always been impressed with his professionalism, punctuality, and his ability to manage a project. Michael’s quality of work is second to none, whether it is structural, framing, or finish work.

Michael has worked with me from 2006 through current date. He was the lead carpenter on many kitchen and bath restoration projects, as well as other remodels.
